Repertoire module
You have already made solo rep picks. If not, you should feel slightly shamed.
Solo Rep Rubric:
Solo literature presentation::Research the assigned works and composers (PDF of the solo is included under course files "Solo works")
Please include the following criteria in your presentation. Please provide a power point, Prezi or AV presentation.
Please consider the following:
- composer dates, historical background, style, genre and other notable or significant works (solo, chamber, symphonic).
- Who premiered the work?
- Compare this composer to others you have played on your instrument from the same time period/genre (trombones players - what other works are similar in difficulty and demand to the assigned work).
- Stylistic elements - how does this work contribute to the repertoire and where it might "fit" in a course curriculum?
You may provide a Youtube link of a "noteworthy" performance if available. In addition to your video upload, also upload an outline of your presentation to Canvas.
Trombone Majors - you should select supplemental works found under the file “trombone majors” in the file section of canvas.
Consider this a teaching interview. You are in your second day of on campus interviews for a position as an applied faculty at the University/conservatory.
You have either 1) spent a fair portion of your career playing professionally and are being interviewed for a full time tenure track position, or 2) you have recently completed your DMA and this is your first full time teaching interview or 3) you are the principal player in an ICSOM orchestra and you are interviewing for an adjunct or lecturer position. A portion of the interview involves a "micro teaching" assessment.
