Picture
These are two of my heroes in this picture. This is David Waters (former bass trombone of the Houston Symphony) and David Kirk (tuba HSO). These guys are my musical and pedagogical fathers. David Waters passed away 5 years ago but his legacy lives on. David Kirk taught me to play with passion and David Waters was the "technician" - I owe much to these two gentleman.

Your first major assignment for the week is to construct a Trombone Methods Binder - see the binder check list on this page for content information. In the past - we have printed all materials and made a 3-ring binder. This seems archaic now and so I have elected to allow you to do this on line. Please use Google Docs/drive, Dropbox or Box. All of the content on this website is linked for your convienence however, I would like each of you to have your own file folder for your to access years down the road when you begin teaching.

Why? I continue to receive numerous emails from alumni asking about "that one handout that covered such and such" - or, can I please email them that list of great mutes, trombones, etudes etc. I am happy to help but now you can have it all!! This website is contiunally being updated but may not always be accessible.

Please stay up with the reading and assignments. Our class times will be full of energy but our speed is contingent on your personal practice.

All of the assignments will be availeble for your to turn in on Canvas and I will use Canvas to keep strict due dates and grading. This website will be used as a general course outline.
