February 22
Please review and read from the 15th century through the second half of the 18th century. Scan through and try to relate this time line to your own instrumet pedagogy and lineage. Will Kimball is the trombone professor at BYU and his research in the history of trombone timeline, along with Trevor Herbert is considered to be the most authoritative and exhaustive.

Your assignment - each of you has been assigned a short portion of the timeline offered above.
Presentation - in class - 8 minutes.
Each of you have been assigned a portion of the above timeline - hyperlinks are active.
Construct an outline (PDF, Word) to be handed to the class of the following:

1) Cite 5 significant events in history that coordinate with a performance, composition, or pedagogical/repertoire event in trombone development.

2) Cite 5 significant works that document the use of trombone (concerti, choral works, orchestral, wind band, alta banda, court performances)

3) Discuss briefly any traditions, trends, interesting or emerging pedagogy or performance practices during your assigned historical timeline.

4) You are free to use musical examples, art work, videos or any media available during your presentation.

To be turned in online and viewed during class. I will share your reports in Box before our class presentations.
