In today's session we will be covering Great Texts in the trombone liturgy - mainly focusing on methods, drills, warm-up and fundamental study and work through etude study. We will discuss everything from Arban to Uber in methods and Alessi to Whitaker in routines.
Bruce and I will discuss/debate areas of teaching pedagogy as it realtes to collegiate course curriculum, flow and focus. We invite you, to provide input and ask insightful questions as it relates to the trombone literature. I will try to keep the conversation for the first half of the class focused on our study of Brass Literature. I will record the discussions and you will be responsible for the material covered on our final exam so feel free to take notes.
The second half of the class will be a fascinating time of self discovery and reflection. I invite you to pick two of Bruce's Podcasts episodes by clicking on the "Get Some Grit" link above and listen before you come. We will open up the floor for question and answer so please come armed with some ideas and thoughts about what you have heard.
I have known Bruce for a while now - he was my second GA here at Baylor. We are approximately 10 years apart in age and he was a witness to my on the job training here at Baylor. I will be forever grateful for his patience and "Ignition Point" and "Spark" - together, we learned a thing or two about the "warrior spirit."
I began listening to "Get Some Grit" for the first time this past fall - my favorite episodes are 12, 15, 17, 19, 21,29, 30 and 31.
Please subscribe to "Get Some Grit" - tell you friends.
