BearBones trombone quartet was established in 2007 by Brent Phillips as an opportunity for some of his studio’s top students to gain experience performing as chamber musicians.  The group hit the ground running and quickly established themselves as Baylor University’s premier student trombone quartet.  Although the group’s personnel has changed over the years, the group has retained a rigorous rehearsal schedule allowing them to compete in various annual trombone quartet competitions and give public performances.

BearBones was featured during the Baylor Trombone Choir’s performance at the 2008 Eastern Trombone Workshop an in 2010 they were invited to perform at the Big XII Trombone Conference at Texas Tech University as well as the TMEA All-State Convention in San Antonio.  That year also brought the group an honorable mention in the International Trombone Association’s Quartet competition.  Bearbones performs frequently during the academic year both on and off campus and is often featured during trombone events at Baylor University.  The Quartet has performed at various high schools and colleges throughout Texas and Arkansas.
